Event: the Women of the ELCA annual Synodical convention
Date: November 2-4, 2012
Location: Gilbert, AZ.

My Haley

I am happy to be delivering the keynote address at The Grand Canyon Women of the ELCA convention Friday evening November 2, 2012 in Phoenix Arizona.

At that event I get to tell about having fulfilled a long held ambition to write about a woman of faith and substance, I will speak about my recently completed novel about a Civil War-era African-American woman from the South, who committed espionage. This soon-to-be-released book, The Treason of Mary Louvestre, provides a historically based portrait of a Norfolk, VA slave who stole plans for the Confederate ironclad warship and then trekked nearly 200 miles through ice and snow to hand them over the the US Secretary of the Navy.

I’m excited to share the story of this woman, Mary, and how she had a major impact on the world around her. Hers is a story that everyone can identify with and learn from, regardless of where their life’s journey begins.
